The wife of Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa is appealing that the senator be granted due process amid the possible issuance of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In an interview, Senator Imee Marcos said that Nancy Dela Rosa—the senator’s wife—is deeply scared and hopes that her husband will be afforded fair justice.

Marcos confirmed that she has had no direct communication with Senator Dela Rosa, and that it was only his wife who sent her the message.

The senator also said she chose not to bother Mrs. Dela Rosa to ask about her husband’s whereabouts, noting that the latter would not disclose it anyway, and that she herself preferred not to know.

Nevertheless, Marcos expressed willingness to help Senator Dela Rosa in any way she can—not to protect him if he is truly guilty, but to ensure that he is given due process and that what happened to former President Rodrigo Duterte will not be repeated.

At present, Marcos is calling for an end to the threats, saying that if a warrant truly exists, it should be made public. If not, she urged everyone to remain silent for now.
