One person was injured while as many as 28 families or 113 individuals lost their homes due to the wall collapse in Valenzuela City.
The incident was caused by the incessant and continuous rains brought by the ravaging South wind in the country.
According to the residents, at around 7:00 am yesterday, September 3, 2023, they felt the wall shaking slightly before it finally collapsed at around 9:00 am, causing great damage to the residents, houses around it.
While Authorities said the continuous rains that have softened the ground in the said area is one of the reasons for the erosion of the said wall which in turn led to the fall of a large tree in the said area to the houses surrounding it.
An injured person was immediately rushed to the hospital to be immediately subjected to orthopedic treatment.
While affected, 17 affected families came from Barangay Mapulang Lupa, and 11 families came from Barangay Ugong of the said city.
Valenzuela City Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja appealed to residents not to return to their homes until the City Engineering Office has confirmed the safety of the area and whether it is still possible to build homes for residents. .
At the same time, the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the local governments promised to extend assistance to the victims of the said tragedy.
