Hinihikayat ni House Ways and Means Chair at Albay Representative Joey Sarte Salceda ang mga bagong abogado na nakapasa sa 2022 BAR Examination na ikunsidera na magtrabaho sa Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
Sinabi ni Salceda nasa 10,000 plantilla positions ang vacant sa ngayon.
“I call on the 3,992 new lawyers to consider working for the Bureau of Internal Revenue, the Fiscal Incentives Review Board, the Office of the Government Corporate Counsel, and other agencies of fiscal and economic affairs where legal expertise is needed,” pahayag ni Salceda.
Binigyang-diin din ng House Tax chief na kaniyang tinatrabaho ang pagtaas sa minimum salary level sa mga bagong lawyers sa nasabing ahensiya mula sa Salary Grade 18 sa mas malapit sa education level para sa isang abogado.
Isinusulong din ni Salceda na magpatupad ng reporma sa Office of the Government Corporate Counsel ng sa gayon makahikayat ng mga bago at competent na mga abogado para maging counsel ng isang sector.
“I am also working on reforms in the Office of the Government Corporate Counsel so that we can attract a pool of competent lawyers to counsel a sector that accounts for P11 trillion in government assets. I am Technical Working Group chair for the OGCC charter reforms, and I am working to cure the defects pointed out in PBBM’s veto of the initial version of the reforms in the sector,” paliwanag ni Salceda.
Naniniwala ang economist solon na nangangailangan ang mga government agencies ng mga “new blood” na may mga bagong perspectives na makakatulong sa pagsusulong ng modernisasyon sa mga ahensiya.
“Our government agencies need new blood and new perspectives as they seek to modernize. I am confident that this crop of new lawyers – forced to rapidly adapt to more digital and crisis conditions – will be a valuable addition to the civil service,” pahayag ni Salceda.
