Posibleng bago matapos ang kasalukuyang buwan o sa Agosto ang actual rollout ng Solidarity Vaccine Trial (SVT) ng World Health Organization (WHO), at ang pag-aaral ng Pilipinas sa safety at efficacy nang paghahalo ng mga COVID-19 vaccines, ayon sa Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
Sinabi ni DOST Undersecretary for Research and Development Rowena Cristina L. Guevara, na siyang chairman ng Task Group on Vaccine Evaluation and Selection (TG-VES), nasa parehong stage na nang pagkuha ng permits mula sa Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB), at Vaccine Expert Panel (VEP) ang WHO at ang mga proponents mula sa Philippine Society for Allergy, Asthma, at Immunology (PSAAI).
Sa isang Facebook post noong Hunyo 18, inanunsyo ni DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” de la Peña na inaasahang maisasapinal ang final protocol para sa SVT ng WHO.
Sinabi niya na ang headquarters ng WHO sa Geneva, Switzerland ay nagpadala ng letter of agreement noong Hunyo 11 para i-review ng Department of Health (DOH), DOST, at ng Philippine Solidarity Vaccine Trial team.
Nabatid na tatagal ng 18 buwan ang SVT ng WHO at ito ay pinondohan ng DOST.
