Ipinagtanggol ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. si Senador Francis “Chiz” Escudero laban sa mga batikos na umano’y nagpatagal sa unang impeachment proceedings laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Ayon kay Pangulong Marcos, opinyon lamang ang mga alegasyong ito at hindi nito nasasalamin ang kakayahan ni Escudero na pamunuan ang impeachment trial.
Binanggit ng Pangulo na ang paghinto ng impeachment proceedings noon ay dulot ng naging desisyon ng Korte Suprema at hindi dahil sa naging pamumuno ni Escudero.
Sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos, ang mga panuntunang pinagtibay ng Senado para sa impeachment proceedings ay inihanda mismo ni Escudero batay sa mga naunang impeachment cases.
Ang tugon ng Pangulo matapos sabihin ni Senator Ping Lacson na si Escudero ang magiging presiding officer sa impeachment trial ni VP Sara sa darating na July 6.
Sa panig ng House Prosecution Panel, kanilang nirerespeto ang naging desisyon ng Senado.
