Muling nanawagan si Sen. Bong Go para sa agarang pagpasa ng panukalang batas na naglalayong lumikha ng isang Medical Reserve Corps sa bansa na maaaring ma-mobilize sa panahon ng national emergencies para palakasin ang kasalukuyang health force.
“The reality is, our medical personnel are strained by the number of COVID-19 patients which hinders our capacity to combat the disease immediately and effectively. Thus, we urgently see the need for a Medical Reserve Corps. In his recent State of the Nation Address, the President has acknowledged the need for this measure and encouraged Congress to pass a law instituting the Medical Reserve Corps,” ani Sen. Go.
Sa nasabing Senate hearing, sinabi ni Dir. Gloria J. Balboa ng Department of Health (DOH) Health Emergency Management Bureau na suportado nila ang panukalang batas para sa napapanahon, epektibo at efficient na public health emergencies and disasters.
Nakapaloob sa Senate Bill No. 1451 o Medical Reserve Corps Act of 2020 ang pagbibigay ng otoridad sa Secretary of Health para i-mobilize sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga kalihim ng Department of National Defense (DND), Department of Education (DepEd) at Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) ang mga indibidwal na may degree sa medicine, nursing, medical technology at iba pang health-related fields na wala pang lisensya.
Inihayag ng senador na ang mga ide-deploy ay bibigyan ng kaukulang kompensayon.
“Bibigyan po nito ng oportunidad ang mga Pilipino, lalo na ang ating mga healthcare professionals, na magserbisyo sa kanilang kapwa Pilipino at makapagsilbi sa kanilang bayan,” dagdag ni Sen. Go.
