Kasunod daw ng direktiba ni Department of Justice (DoJ) Sec. Menardo I. Guevarra, binubuo na ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) ang Task Force-Philhealht na magsasagawa ng imbesgtigasyon sa katiwaliansa Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth).
Sinabi ni NBI Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Director Eric B. Distor nag-isyu na ito ng Memorandum Order para buuin ang Task Force-Philhealth na magsasagawa ng imbestigasyon sa sinasabing korapsiyon sa Philhealth.
Dagdag nito, kasama na rin umano sa bubuuing task force ang pag-audit sa Philhealth finances at magsasagawa ng lifestyle checks sa kanilang mga officials at employees.
Kasama sa mag-iimbestiga ang Anti-Graft Division (AGD), Anti-Fraud Division (AFD), Special Action Unit (SAU), Computer Crimes Division (CCD), Special Operations Group (SOG) at Digital Forensic Laboratory (DFL) ng NBI.
Pangungunahan naman ni NBI-National Capital Region (NCR) Regional Director Cesar Bacani at nasa ilalim ng supervision ni Deputy Director for Regional Operations Service (DDROS) Antonio Pagatpat at ang mag-aasiste naman ay si Deputy Director for Investigation Service (DDInvS) Vicente De Guzman III.
Pagkatapos nito ay makikipag-coordinate naman ang DoJ sa progress ng imbestigasyon.
Una rito, noong 2019, nagsagawa na rin ang NBI ng imbestigasyon sa Philhealth kaugnay ng ghost dialysis fees na kinasasangkutan naman ng WellMed Dialysis and Laboratory Center Corporation (WellMed) at Philhealth.
