Nilinaw ng House of Representatives na hindi ito nagsampa ng pormal na reklamo laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte sa Office of the Ombudsman.
Ito ang sinabi ni House spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante sa gitna ng mga balita na inutusan ng Ombudsman si Duterte at ilan pang opisyal na sagutin ang alegasyon mula sa isinagawang imbestigasyon ng House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability.
“What I know is that the House or the Committee (on Good Government and Public Accountability) itself did not file any complaint, but it appears that the Ombudsman acted upon the recommendation of the committee,” dagdag pa ng abogada.
Ang hakbang ng Ombudsman ay matapos tanggapin ng Kamara ang findings at rekomendasyon ng Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability kaugnay ng umano’y maling paggamit ng confidential funds ng Office of the Vice President at Department of Education noong panahon ni Duterte bilang kalihim.
“So, it appears that the Ombudsman acted upon the recommendation of the committee.”
Nang tanungin kung ang Kamara o ang komite ang itinuturing na complainant, sinabi ni Abante:
“Doon sa heading ng nakita ko, nakalagay committee eh. I still have to read about it and review my limited knowledge of the legal processes.”
Ipinaliwanag rin ni Abante na may kapangyarihan ang Ombudsman na na magkaroon ng inisyatiba sa pagsasampa ng reklamo.
Nang tanungin kung paano niya ipapaliwanag ang ginamit na salita sa utos ng Ombudsman, sinabi ni Abante: “It is stated, I read it doon sa reports that it is stated in the order to file a counter affidavit that it was acting on the recommendation of the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability.”
Kaugnay ng isyung kung itinuturing ngang reklamo ang committee report base sa nakasaad sa dokumento, inamin ni Abante na naguluhan din siya.
“Ang meron po kaming pinadala sa Ombudsman ay ‘yung pag-furnish sa Ombudsman nung Committee Report na na-adopt ng Plenary nung huling 19th Congress. So, the heading may state that way, but the body states otherwise that it was the Ombudsman acting on the recommendation of the committee,” dagdag pa ni Abante.
Nang tanungin kung nangangamba ang Kamara na maaaring ibasura ng Ombudsman ang mga natuklasan ng committee bago pa man magsimula ang impeachment trial sa Senado, sinabi ni Abante na may tiwala siya sa katatagan at kredibilidad ng ulat.
“The recommendation of the committee, naniniwala din naman ako na nung naglabas sila ng recommendation na yun ay meron silang sufficient evidence to make that recommendation from the hearings that they conducted. So, I will leave it at that,” aniya.
