MANILA – Pinaalalahanan ng Philippine Medical Association (PMA) ang publiko na tanging mga ospital na may compassionate special permit (CSP) ang pwedeng mag-reseta ng anti-parasitic drug na ivermectin para sa COVID-19 patients.

“Ivermectin must be prescribed and used within the same hospital and the prescribing doctor must inform the patient of this compassionate use category with unproven end result,” ayon sa isang statement.
Pahayag ito ng PMA kasunod ng distribusyon ng ivermectin sa Quezon City noong Huwebes.
Suportado daw ng grupo ang posisyon ng Department of Health (DOH), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), at World Health Organization (WHO), na wala pang matibay na ebidensyang mabisang panlaban at pampagaling sa COVID-19 ang ivermectin.
Pinag-aralan din umano ng kanilang mga miyembrong dalubhasa sa infectious disease ang ilang case study tungkol sa bisa ng naturang gamot.
“(They) determined that the studies presented had low confidence certainty due to high risk of bias and low overall quality of evidence so they do not recommend use of ivermectin for prophylaxis nor treatment of COVID-19.”
Sa kasalukuyan, limang ospital pa lang ang nagagawaran ng CSP ng FDA para gumamit ng ivermectin sa kanilang COVID-19 patients.
Ayon sa PMA, hindi pwedeng i-reseta ng kahit sinong doktor mula sa labas ng otorisadong ospital ang ivermectin.
“Its prescription as prophylactic medicine against COVID-19 strongly not advised.”
Binigyang diin ng grupo na paglabag sa FDA Law ang paggawa, pagbebenta, at pamimigay ng mga hindi rehistradong gamot.
Umapela ang PMA sa lahat ng doktor na huwag mag-reseta at mag-compound ng ivermectin, lalo na kung sila ay hindi mula sa mga ospital na may CSP.
