Binuksan ngayong hapon ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang isang isolation ward sa loob ng New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Compound sa Muntinlupa City para sa mga nakaditineng banyaga.
Ayon kay BI Warden Facility (BIWF) Chief Remiecar Caguiron, ang BI Ligtas Covid Centre ay para sa mga Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) positive na mga persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
Dito rin umano ilalagay ang mga mayroon mild hanggang moderate symptoms ng naturang virus.
Ang naturang proyekto ay sa pamamagita ng inisyatiba ng BI at pakikipag-partner sa International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Department of Justice (DoJ) at Bureau of Corrections.
Ang hakbang ng BI ay para mapigilan na rin ang pagkalat ng virus.
“In the past, we used the custodial quarters of our detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa to isolate COVID-positive PDLs,” ani Caguiron.
Pinasalamatan naman ni BI Commissioner Jaime Morente ang pagsisikap ng mga personnel ng BI Warden Facility para hindi na dumami pa ang mahawa ng covid.
“We need innovative solutions for these emerging issues. The swift action of our personnel in implementing projects to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 is necessary to save lives,” ani Morente.
