Nagbabala ang Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sa mga healthcare professionals at publiko hinggil sa pagbili at paggamit ng hindi pa rehistradong medical device na infrared thermometer.
Isa itong uri ng thermal scanner na itinatapat sa noo ng isang tao para malaman ang kanyang temperatura.
Ayon sa FDA advisory na may petsang June 10, sinabi ni director general Eric Domingo na wala ring hawak na Certificate of Product Registration (CPR) ang nasabing device, nang dumaan sa post-marketing surveillance.
Sa ilalim daw kasi ng FDA Act of 2009, ipinagbabawal ang paggawa, importation at page-export, pagbebenta o distribusyon ng health products nang walang wastong gabay.
“Since this unregistered medical device has not gone through evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot assure its quality and safety.”
Una nang naglabas ng advisory ang FDA noong Marso matapos makatanggap ng ulat hinggil sa mga ibinibentang infrared thermometers online.
Inatasan na ng ahensya ang regional field offices at regulatory enforcement units nito na makipag-ugnayan sa bawat local government units, para masigurong matigil na ang pagbebenta nito.
“The Bureau of Customs is urged to restrain the entry of this unregistered product.”
