Pinulong ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana ang mga retired generals ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at Philippine National Police na pawang aktibo sa pagseserbisyo sa iba’t-ibang ahensya ng pamahalaan.
Ito ang kauna-unahang pagpupulong na tinawag na “Samahang Serbisyong Kawal Fellowship.”
Tinalakay sa nasabing fellowship ang iba’t-ibang suliraning pambansa na may kinalaman sa seguridad gayundin sa nation building at kung paano makatutulong dito ang mga retiradong kawal.
Dumalo sina Environment Sec. Roy Cimatu at Interior Sec. Eduardo Año na dating naging AFP chief of staff, gayundin sina Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Danilo Lim, Social Welfare Sec. Rolando Bautista, at National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr.

Sa kaniyang pahayag, binigyang-diin ni Cimatu ang kahalagahan ng political will tulad ng naging hakbang nila sa paglilinis ng Boracay at Manila Bay.
Para naman kay Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, malaking tulong din ang pakikiisa ng mga reservist upang panatilihin ang kaayusan at kapayapaan ng bansa.
“We hope to fortify this group to facilitate easier coordination in our future endeavors and converge our efforts in order to bring greater impact on the lives of the people,” ani Sec. Lorenzana sa mga dating uniformed personnel.
Dagdag nito, “I hope we will not fail (President Rodrigo Duterte) as he deeply values our sense of discipline, duty, urgency, integrity, and unquestionable love for country.”
Layon ng pulong ay magkaroon ng direktang ugnayan sa iba’t-ibang ahensiya para makabuo ng konkretong mekanismo bilang suporta sa adhikain ng gobyerno tungo sa pangmatagalang kapayapaan at pagbabago sa bansa.
Ang fellowship ay sa pakikipagtulungan ng iba’t-ibang ahensiya ng gobyerno gaya ng mga sumusunod: National Security Adviser; the Secretaries of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, at Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council; Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, the Chairman of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, at Director Generals ng Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and National Intelligence Coordinating Agency.
