Todo paliwanag si Department of Justice (DoJ) Sec. Menardo Guevarra sa mga obispo ng Metro Manila na humihiling na payagan na ang 10 percent capacity ng mga simbahan para sa kanilang isasagawang misa matapos ibalik sa general community quarantine (GCQ) ang National Capital Region (NCR).
Sinabi ni Guevarra na naiintindihan niya ang sintimiyento ng mga obispo pero sumusunod din daw sila sa rekomendasyon ng Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) na magkakaroon ngayon ng mas mahigpit na GCQ.
Sa ilalim kasi ng GCQ ay 10 percent maximum attendance ang papayagan sa mga gatherings gaya ng simbahan.
Pero sa rekomendasyon daw ng Metro Manila mayors, 10 katao lamang ang inirekomenda nila sa mga mass gatherings kabilang na ang pagsasagawa ng misa ng simbahan.
Nilinaw naman ni Guevarra na sa labas ng NCR ay susundin ang 10 percent rule sa mga lugar na nasa GCQ.
Kasunod nito, hiniling ng kalihim ang pang-unawa ng mga obispo dahil ang ginagawa ng IATF ay para na rin sa public health consideration.
Ang pahayag ni Guevarra ay bilang tugon sa hirit ni Pasig City Bishop Mylo Vergara.
Sinabi ng obispo na dahil nasa ilalim na ulit ng GCQ ang NCR, dapat daw ay maibalik ulit sa 10 percent ang maximum attendance ng mga dadalo sa misa.
“Hi Bishop Mylo, I fully share your sentiments. we just have to continue living our lives with the covid virus as an unwanted part of it. we just have to deal with it and continue to protect ourselves. you are correct when you pointed out that we there has been no progressive movement in respect of opening our churches. we got to 50% in MGCQ areas and 10% in GCQ areas. however, NCR backslid to MECQ for two weeks upon the urgent plea of our medical workers. now NCR has de-escalated to GCQ, so dapat akyat uli sa 10% max attendance. pero the metro manila mayors wanted a strict type of GCQ; so religious worship and other mass gatherings were kept at 10 pax maximum. outside NCR, however, max religious attendance follows the standard 10% rule in GCQ areas. Much as i would like to have a progressive and continuous movement, public health considerations bear heavily on IATF decisions, bishop. thank you for your patience and understanding,” ani Guevarra.
