Binigyang diin ng Department of Health (DOH) na wala pa sa second wave ng COVID-19 infection ang Pilipinas.
Pahayag ito ng ahensya matapos sabihin ni Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong na mayroon nang ikalawang bugso ng sakit.
Paliwanag ng DOH, kailangan nang masusing pag-aaral sa indicators tulad ng case doubling time at critical care utilization rate bago masabi natapos na ang unang wave ng pandemic ang isang bansa, at pumasok na sa panibagong bugso.
“The case doubling time (CDT) measures the speed of the outbreak. Longer CDT means the disease is spreading slower. We want longer CDT or slower spread of disease to ensure that our hospitals are not overwhelmed.”
“The critical care utilization rate (CCU) measures the current occupancy rate of our hospitals. Specifically, it encompasses the utilization rate of the COVID-19 dedicated ICU beds, ward beds, isolation beds, and mechanical ventilators.”
As of July 28, nasa 8.87-days daw ang case doubling time ng Pilipinas. Ang critical care utilization rate naman ay 49.76%.
Pinabulaanan ng Health department ang sinabi ni Mayor Magalong, na siya ring contact tracing czar ng administrasyon, na ang patuloy na pagtaas ng COVID-19 cases ang indikasyon ng second wave.
“This statement was based on the increase of cases, but a holistic view will show that Baguio’s CDT of Baguio as of July 28 is at20.07 days.”
“And CCU as of July 26 is at 24.38%. Note that the CCU of
Baguio in June 29 was at 35.71%.”
