Nasa mas mabilis na pacing o proseso na raw ang development ng mga bakuna na posibleng makapatay sa virus na nagdudulot ng COVID-19.
Ayon sa Department of Health, may higit 70 bakuna laban sa coronavirus disease ang kasalukuyang sumasailalim sa development. Ang walo sa mga ito ay nasa clinical trials na raw.
“Vaccine development for COVID-19 is proceeding at a significantly faster pace than the usual.”
“A typical vaccine may take up to 10 years to develop, and the fastest vaccine yet developed was for Ebola which took a total of 5 years.”
Nagpahayag na raw ang World Health Organization (WHO) ng intensyon na isailalim din sa kanilang Solidarity trial ang mga bakuna.
“A candidate vaccine needs to reach Phase II-B or Phase III clinical trials before it can be considered for widespread testing.”
Handa umano ang Pilipinas sa sumali rin sa hiwalay na trial ng developed vaccines para makakuha rin ng mga dagdag na scientific knowledge kaugnay ng COVID-19.
