Inanunsyo ni climate activist Greta Thunberg na nakahanda itong magbigay ng 100,000 euros o halos $114,000 bilang tulong sa Brazilian Amazon na labanan ng COVID-19 pandemic.
Ito’y matapos bigyan ng parangal si Thunberg ng Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity na may premyong 1 million euros ($1.14 million).
Ibibigay ng Thunberg Foundation sa SOS Amazonia ang nasabing donasyon. Ang SOS Amazonia ay pinangangasiwaan ng Fridays for Future Brazil, isang organisasyon na tumutulong sa mga indigenous territories kontra COVID-19.
Magbibigay din ito ng 100,000 euros sa Stop Ecocide Foundation para suportahan ang kanilang mga hakbang upang pormal nang gawing international crime ang ecocide.
“The Prize money, which is one million euros, that is more money than I can even begin to imagine, but all the prize money will be donated through my Foundation to different organizations and projects who are working to help people on the front lines, affected by the climate crisis and ecological crisis, especially in the Global South,” saad ni Thunberg sa video na ibinahagi nito sa kaniyang Twitter account.
“Also to help organizations and projects who are fighting for a sustainable world and who are fighting to defend nature and the natural world.”
