Nasungkit ng 5 Pinoy figure skaters ang 16 na medalya sa ginanap na Skate Asia 2022 noong Agosto 6-14 sa bansang Malaysia.
Sa nasabing bilang, naipanalo ng mga kalahok ang 9 gold medals, 4 silver, at 3 bronze na sina Caitlin Geci Cos, Eriana Ericka Tan, Jodi Catherine Dino, Shekinah Vianne Angeles, at Anicka Shanel Tan.
Napag-alaman na ito ang kanilang kauna-unahang pagsali sa kompetisyon dahil nitong Pebrero lang ang mga ito nagsimula ng kanilang pag-eensayo sa skating.
Sa nasabing kompetisyon, 6 na gintong medalya ang nasungkit ng Cebuana young figure skater na si Erphy Claire Mckenzie mula sa 6 na categories na kinabibilangan ng Freestyle, Footwork, Artistic, Open Freeskate, Solo Competition at Jump and Spin..
Noong 2019, nasungkit din nito ang 7 gintong medalya sa isa pang international skating tilt sa Indonesia.
Masaya naman ang 8 anyos na skater sa matagumpay nitong laban:
“My bank of enjoyable and exciting skating memories is filled again from the recently concluded Skate Asia 2022. It’s a mixed of strong emotions. At some point I’m overly excited, but also, people around me could tell I was also nervous. I wanted to win. I came to fight and win for that gold, but mama said, that’s just a plus. It’s how I felt & reacted before, during and after each of my programs matters most. I enjoyed each of my performances and apparently, that made me a winner more than anything else. But truly hard work pays off. Six out of six gold medals for myself, my coaches, and my team this time,” saad sa isang Facebook post ni Mckenzie.
