Matagumpay umanong nahigitan ng Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) at Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang P1.527-trillion na target tax collection ng Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC) sa unang walong buwan ng taon.
Ayon sa Department of Finance, aabot sa P1.636-trillion ang halaga ng pinagsamang tax na nakolekta ng dalawang ahensya.
Katumbas daw nito ang 7.17% na taas mula sa target na koleksyon, sa kabila ng hinaharap ng krisis ng bansa dulot ng COVID-19 pandemic.
“Citing preliminary BIR and BOC data, the DOF’s Revenue Operations Group (ROG) said that for the January 1-August 31 2020 period, the two agencies collected P109.5 billion more than the revised collection target set by the DBCC last July to account for the pernicious impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the global economy.”
Paliwanag ni Finance Usec. Antonette Tionko, mula Enero hanggang Agosto 31, nagawang maka-kolekta ng BIR ng P1.289-trillion tax mula sa DBCC target na P96.44-trillion.
Ang BOC naman, nagawang maka-kolekta ng P347.6-billion sa parehong petsa, mula sa target lang sana na P16.97-billion ng konseho.
Bukod sa tax collections, nahigitan din daw ng dalawang tanggapan ang targets ng DBCC sa collection sa kabila ng paghihigpit sa ekonomiya ng ilang lugar na muling pinatawan ng modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) noong Agosto.
Aabot sa P216.65-billion ang combined collections ng BIR at BOC nitong nakaraang buwan. Higi na mataas sa P155.27-billion na targer para sa Agosto.
“The BIR collected P172.06 billion in August, which surpassed the DBCC target of P118.2 billion by a remarkable 45.5 percent or P53.87 billion.”
“A total of P44.59 billion was collected by the BOC in August, topping the DBCC target of P33.68 billion by P10.9 billion or 32.58 percent.”
