Nagbabala ang Deparment of Interior and Local Government (DILG) laban sa mga maka-kaliwang grupo matapos magbanta na sasampahan ng kaso ang isang judge na naglabas ng search warrant na nagpaaresto sa mga aktibista kamakailan sa Negros Occidental.
Nanawagan si Interior Sec. Eduardo Año sa leftist groups na huwag takutin at insultuhin ang trabaho ng mga hukom na responsibilidad ang pagbaba ng mga hatol, gaya ng search warrant sa mga iniimbestigahang personalidad.
“Please do not harass our judges and insult their wisdom to decide on the necessity of issuing a search warrant,” ayon sa kalihim.
“Judges should be free from the improper influence of other sectors and even other branches of government in exercising their mandate,” dagdag ng kalihim.
Kamakailan nang batikusin ni Bayan Muna Party-list Rep. Carlos Zarate ang ilan sa mga Regional Trial Court judges na naglabas ng search warrant.
Nagbunsod kasi ito ng raid sa opisina ng kanilang grupo, pati na sa Gabriela, National Federation of Sugar Workers (NFSW) sa Bacolod at sa iba pang bahagi ng bansa kung saan higit 40 aktibista ang naaresto.
Ayon kay Año, hindi naman basta nagbababa lang ng desisyon ang isang hukom dahil may proseso rin itong sinusunod.
“Issuing a search order is not done out of the judges’ whim and caprices. As lawyers and officers of the court, they should be the first to respect the acts of the court,” paliwanag ng Interior secretary.
Kaugnay nito, suportado raw ng DILG ang panukalang pagbuo ng independent armed unit na katulad ng United States Marshall Service, dahil tiyak umano na protektado nito ang sangay ng hudikatura.
