KORONADAL CITY – The Police Regional Office-12 (PRO-12) deployed more than 9,000 police and military personnel for the upcoming May 13 midterm elections.

According to PNP-12 spokesperson Police Lt. Col. Aldrin Gonzales, a send-off ceremony headed by Regional Director Brigadier General Eliseo Tam Rasco was held for the uniformed personnel that will provide security for the elections across the region.

A total of 9,370 police and military units were assigned in various parts of the provinces of North Cotabato, Sarangani, South Cotabato, and Sultan Kudarat.

From the said number, 6,212 are from Region XII; 2,846 came from the Armed Forces of the Philippines; and additional 312 units from the National and Administrative support units.

This is part of the strict security measures implemented by PNP for the elections.

Gonzales added that more than 200 PNP personnel were trained as board of election inspectors (BEIs) if some teachers were to back out.
