The World Boxing Council (WBC) officially announced Mario Barrios vs 46 year old Manny Pacquiao in Summer 2025 in the United States in a Welterweight title fight.
The fight will be 12 rounds in the Welterweight division at 147 pounds.
29 year old Barrios will defend his WBC World Welterweight Championship belt after Terrence Crawford moved to 154 pounds.
‘Champion in recess’ Crawford automatically promoted Barrios due to inactivity. Last year, Barrios (29-2-1, 18 KOs) became WBC welterweight champion.
“At this time, Mario Barrios is going to face Manny Pacquiao in July… that’s a tremendous fight.” Mauricio Sulaimán WBC President revealed.
It can be recalled that Barrios fought Ugas (27-6, 12 KOs), dropping him twice en route to a unanimous decision victory on Sept. 30, 2023. Pacquiao (62-8-3, 39 KOs) also fought Ugas but lost via unanimous decision. Pacquiao retired after the defeat.
As of this writing, Manny is running for Senator and the result of the May 12 election may affect the fight.
