After four seasons and one NBA finals appearance, the Phoenix Suns decided to part ways with Monty Williams as their head coach.
This was shortly after the Suns got eliminated by the no. 1 seed Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semifinals.
“We are filled with gratitude for everything Monty has contributed to the Suns and to the Valley community,” James Jones, the President of Basketball Operations and General Manager of Phoenix said in a statement.
There has been a trend lately in the NBA regarding coaches as three former Coach of the Year have been fired. First it was Mike Budenholzer after the Milwaukee Bucks exited early, followed by Toronto Raptor’s Nick Nurse who led them to a championship in 2019.
As of the writing, there is still no frontrunner for the head coaching job vacated by Williams.
