South Korea’s recently appointed ambassador to the Philippines Lee Sang-hwa, stated on Monday that his country was open to taking part in a joint feasibility study on the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. accepted Lee’s credentials as he indicated that a proposal for a study on the BNPP had already been made.
He stated, “We presented, submitted our proposal for joint feasibility study,” reiterating South Korea’s commitment to energy cooperation with the Philippines.
Marcos stated in his first State of the Nation Address that he wanted to include nuclear energy in the country’s power mix and that the country’s strategy needed to be reevaluated.
