Tinawag ni dating presidential spokesman Atty. Harry Roque na isang “continuing pattern” ang kasong tax evasion na inihain laban sa kaniya at kaniyang co-repondents para i-harass ang supporters ng Duterte administration.
Ginawa ni Roque ang pahayag matapos maghain ang Bureau of Internal Revenue sa Department of Justice ng tax evasion laban sa kaniya, sa kaniyang maybahay na si Mylah Reyes Roque, at Percival Sazon Ortega dahil sa tax violations kaugnay sa Bianchan Holdings and Trading Inc., isang kompaniya na dating pagmamay-ari nina Roque at kanilang associates.
Sa isang statement, sinabi ng dating presidential spokesman naniniwala silang ito ay isang political motivated at layuning i-harass at i-pressure ang mga indibidwal na nakikitang sumusuporta sa nakalipas na administrasyon.
“These filings form part of a continuing pattern of actions which we believe are politically motivated and intended to harass and pressure individuals associated with, or perceived to be supportive of, the Duterte administration. We view these developments with serious concern as they raise fundamental issues regarding fairness, equal protection, and the impartial administration of justice,” saad ni Roque.
Sa hiwalay namang statement, sinabi ng BIR na base sa imbestigasyon nito, lumabas na nabigo ang mag-asawang Roque at si Ortega na maghain ng kinakailangang tax returns at magbayad ng kaukulang tax due sa paglipat ng shares of stock at paagtaas sa awtorisadong capital stock.
Subalit iginiit ni Roque na walang anumang shares na inisyu alinsunod sa anumang alegasyon ng pagtaas ng authorized capital stock. Dahil walang aktwal na issuance o subscription ng shares, iginiit niyang walang taxable event na magdudulot ng pananagutan sa batas sa buwis ng Pilipinas.
Saad pa ng abogado na ang anumang suhestiyon ng pananagutan sa buwis sa yugtong ito ay walang batayan at masyadong maaga.
“We will address these allegations vigorously through all appropriate legal remedies and will fully engage in the proper judicial and administrative processes. We remain confident that a fair and impartial review of the facts will confirm the correctness of our position,” saad pa ni Roque.
