Tiniyak ng Philippine National Police (PNP) na susunod sila sa direktiba ng Department of Justice (DOJ) hinggil sa pagpapatupad ng arrest warrant ng International Criminal Court (ICC) laban kay Senador Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
Sa pahayag ng PNP noong Huwebes, Mayo 21, sinabi ng ahensya na kinikilala nila ang proseso ng hustisya at ang awtoridad ng mga kinauukulang ahensya ng pamahalaan sa pagpapatupad ng mga legal na kautusan.
“The Philippine National Police (PNP) takes note of the directive issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ) directing the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to effect the warrant of arrest against Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa,” ayon sa PNP.
Dagdag pa nito, “The PNP respects the processes of the justice system and recognizes the authority of competent government agencies in the implementation of lawful orders.”
Bilang law enforcement agency, iginiit ng PNP na tutuparin nila ang kanilang mandato alinsunod sa umiiral na batas, due process, at operational procedures.
“As a law enforcement agency, the PNP shall perform its mandate in accordance with existing laws, due process, and established operational procedures,” dagdag pa ng ahensya.
Tiniyak din ng PNP na mananatiling patas, propesyonal, at naaayon sa batas ang kanilang mga gagawing aksyon, na may paggalang sa karapatang konstitusyonal ng lahat ng sangkot na partido.
“The PNP likewise assures the public that all actions undertaken shall remain impartial, professional, and within the bounds of the law, with full respect for the constitutional rights of all parties concerned,” pahayag nito.
Samantala, sinabi ng DOJ na itinuturing na pugante si Senador dela Rosa. Humiling din ang ahensya ng red notice sa Interpol kaugnay ng kaso ng mambabatas.
