Almost 1 million low-income Filipinos have received financial assistance under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act or Bayanihan 1 and Bayanihan 2 , the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Monday.
Based on its latest report, the agency has distributed more that P1-billion supplemental aid to almost 1 million beneficiaries who were living in areas under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista reported to President Duterte that as of April 11, a total of 1,757,281 beneficiaries got their aid.
“As of April 11, based na rin po sa data ng DILG (based on the data of DILG), ang (the) actual beneficiaries paid is 1,757,281,” he said in a meeting with the Chief Executive.
He noted that the total supplemental aid disbursed in the National Capital Region (NCR), Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal totals P1,757,281 or eight percent of the P22.9 billion targeted to be distributed to 22.9 million low-income people affected by the ECQ.
As a part of the said technical assistance for local government units (LGUs), the agency said they continue to monitor each payouts that started last April 7.
It also added that it maintained close coordination with the concerned LGUs to ensure that almost 22.9 million low-income families affected by the ECQ will receiver their cash aid.
Some members of the Executive and Management Committess of DSWD, led by DSWD Sec. Rolando Joselito Bautista, personally monitored the payouts last week.
Bautista, with other members of Joint Monitoring and Inspection Committee, went at Parañaque City to oversee the distribution.
