Binigyan ng Supreme Court (SC) ng 10 araw ang Office of the President para magkomento sa petisyon na inihain ng online news site na Rappler laban sa pagbabawal sa kanilang organisasyon at mga reporter na mag-cover ng mga public event ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Ito ay base sa notice of resolution na pirmado ni SC en banc Clerk of Court Atty. Edgar Aricheta.
Hindi na muna inaksiyunan ng hukuman ang hiling na temporary restraining order (TRO) o status quo ante order o writ of preliminary injunction ng Rappler.
Bukod sa Office of the President, kasama rin sa pinagkukumento ang Office of the Executive Secretary, Presidential Communications Operations Office, Presidential Communications Operations Office, Media Accreditation Registration Office at Presidential Security Group.
Sa petisyon ng Rappler at ng mga mamamahayag nito kabilang na si Pia Ranada, Mara Alyssabel Cepeda, Raymon Dullana at Camille Elemia.
Iginigiit ng mga petitioner na ang coverage ban ay labag sa press freedom, free speech, due process at equal protection na ginagarantiya ng Konstitusyon.
