VIGAN CITY – Military and police authorities in Ilocos Sur denied the reported terror plot of ISIS to several public places in the said province including churches and public markets.
Earlier, Northern Luzon Command confirmed the alert memorandum that circulated in the social media about the alleged possible violence by terrorists in some Luzon key cities like Laoag, Tuguegarao, Vigan and in Pangasinan.
In an interview of Bombo Radyo Vigan, Police Lt. Col. Fidel Junio, Vigan City Chief Police said that there is no terror threat in Vigan City wherein St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral, the famous and frequently visited by tourists is located.
Junio added that Police Provincial Director Col. Adolfo Rafanan ordered all municipal police stations in the province to implement intense police visibility in their areas of responsibility to protect the security and safety of the public.
Meanwhile, City Committee on Public Order and Safety conducted a special meeting yesterday where 81st Infantry Battalion commander 1st Lt. Amad Sahirani allayed fears over the reported terror threat saying it’s not true and unverified.
Sahirani further advised the public to stop spreading copy of the said terror threat memo to avoid undue panic and alarm of the citizens. (with reports from Bombo Vigan)
