Isinusulong ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) ang “cashless transaction” sa mga pampublikong sasakyan alinsunod sa kampanya ng pamahalaan kontra COVID-19.
Ang cashless transaction ay sistema kung saan hindi kinakailangang mag-abot ng pasahero o customer ng aktwal na pera sa pagbabayad.
Maaaring itong idaan sa ilang mekanismo tulad ng tap cards o application sa cellphone.
Ayon kay Transportation Sec. Arthur Tugade, parte na ng “new normal” sa pampublikong transportasyon ang cashless na pagbabayad, lalo na’t paalala ng Health officials na iwasan muna ang pagkakaroon ng close contact sa bawat isa.
“Secretary Tugade, through the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), has directed all Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) operators using the tollways and expressways to install Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags to enable cashless payments as well,” ayon sa online statement ng ahensya.
Sinabi ni LTFRB chairman Martin Delgra III na mandato ng PUB operators na gumamit ng RFID tags sa lahat ng kanila unit na bumi-biyahe sa mga rutang nasa ilalim ng general at enhanced community quarantine.
“In compliance with the order, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has offered free installation of RFID for vehicles using the expressways, noting that contactless transactions will also prevent long vehicle queues at toll plazas.”
