Pinuri ni Vice President Leni Robredo ang Department of Health (DOH) dahil sa agaran nitong pagtugon sa panawagan ng medical groups na magkaroon ng “time out” para bumuo ng mas kongkretong plano laban sa COVID-19.
“I think their laying down of very definite targets, is a step in the right direction,” ani VP Leni sa isang online post noong Miyerkules.
“They listened to the petition of the medical frontliners, met with them and the other stakeholders, and came up with these targets that are to be achieved at the end of the MECQ on Aug 18, 2020.”
Sang-ayon ang pangalawang pangulo sa nais ng kagawaran na palakasin pa ang testing at contact tracing. Gayundin ang libreng gastos sa mga ma-admite na pasyente, containtment ng clusters at laban kontra stigma o maling paniniwala sa confirmed cases.
Nitong Martes nang lumakad ang 15-araw na modified enhanced community quarantine sa Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna at Rizal.
Kasunod ito nang approval ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa rekomendasyon ng Inter-Agency Task Force.
Sa ilalim ng 15-day MECQ, ilang plano at target ang inilatag ng DOH at medical groups bilang tugon sa lumalalang COVID-19 situation sa mga lugar.
Humingi lang ng paglilinaw si VP Leni sa ilang agenda ng ahensya, tulad ng paggamit ng mahihirap na komunidad sa face mask at shield.
“I’m sure they meant everyone (not just the poor) are required to wear masks. As far as face shields are concerned, policy should be made clear. Are they required or just encouraged?”
Pati na ang paggamit ng rapid antibody test kit. Kung tuluyan na ba itong ipagbabawal o lilimitahan lang ang paggamit.
Una nang sinabi ng DOH na maglalabas sila ng omnibus guidelines sa paggamit ng iba’t-ibang COVID-19 tests.
May karagdagang rekomendasyon din ang bise presidente sa usapin ng symptoms checking sa kada bahay. Sana raw ang matiyak na health workers ang magsasagawa nito at hindi pwersa ng pulisya.
“We do not want a repeat of the abuses that accompanied the implementation of Operation Tokhang.”
Panghuli ay sa aspeto ng pagbabawal sa home quarantine ng probable, confirmed cases at kanilang close contact.
“Better to state that this is the national policy because, before this announcement, the directives vary from LGU to LGU. In addition to this, we have to make sure that we have sufficient quarantine centers to accommodate them all.”
