Tiniyak ni DILG Sec. Eduardo Año na suportado nila ang Comelec sa kanilang isinusulong na pagpapatupad ng health protocols.
Ito ay sa araw ng halalan maging sa buong election period lalo kung magkaroon ng surge ng Covid-19 cases.
Ayon kay Año, mahalaga na nasusunod ang minimum public health standard ng sa gayon maiwasan na magkaroon ng hawaan.
Sinabi naman ni Comelec Commissioner Aimee Torrefranca- Neri na ang constitutional mandate ng Comelec ay tiyaking honest, orderly, peaceful and credible ang May 2022 polls.
Subalit mahalaga din sa Comelec na tiyakin ang kalusugan ng publiko sa araw ng halalan dahil ito ang unang halalan na isinagawa sa panahon ng pandemya.
Si Neri ang itinalaga ng Comelec na pamunuan ang new normal committee na siyang tututok na striktong pagpapatupad ng health protocols na bahagi ng programa nila na Covid proofing.
Ayon kay Commissioner Neri ang halalan ay maituturing na super spreader event lalo at nasa pandemya pa rin ang bansa kaya hindi pa rin dapat magkumpiyansa sa kabila ng patuloy na pagbaba ng kaso ng Covid-19 sa bansa.
” While it is the constitutional mandate of the comelec to conduct honest, orderly, peaceful and credible elections, it is also equally
important for comelec to ensure public health on the election day because this is the the first time that we are going to conduct
national and local elections during pandemic,” pahayag ni Commissioner Neri.
Sa ngayon inilatag na rin ng Comelec ang kanilang plano para tugunan ang Covid-19 problem sa nalalapit na May 2022 national and local elections.
Ito ay ang sumusunod: Una, ang Comelec dapat magsagawa ng public simulation of voting sa isang isolation polling place. Dapat gamitin ang IPP sakaling may isang botante na magpakita ng COVID-19 symptoms o may pagtaas ng kaniyang body temperature.
Pangalawa, ang Comelec ay bubuo ng sarili nilang medical advisory board.
Pangatlo, ang Comelec ay makikipag partner sa mga health and medical groups kung saan maglalatag ng medical desks na siyang reresponde kapag may health related issues sa mga botante.
It is my personal advocacy to ensure safe election with regard to the observation of health protocools particulary covid
proofing our election because the election is a super spreader event and we are not out of the woods yet. We have an estimated total of
67.5 million registered voters who will go out of their homes to exercise their right to vote. That is almost 60 percent of our total
population which is currently estimated at 112 million. With this there is an urgent need to ensure that health protocols will be
observed and everyone will have the access to medical assistance,” dagdag pa ni Neri.
