Nanawagan si House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano sa publiko ngayong ginugunita ng bansa ang National Heroes Day na isapubliko ang pagkakaiba at suportahan ang mga hakbang ng Duterte administration para sa pag-ulad ng bansa.
“President [Rodrigo] Duterte called on our fellow Filipinos to emulate the patriotism of all heroes before us by supporting the government’s nation-building effort, especially our campaign against illegal drugs, criminality, corruption, poverty, and environmental degradation,” saad ni Cayetano sa kanyang talumpati sa Libingan ng mga Bayani.
Ikinatawan ni Cayetano si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na absent sa event dahil kinailangan daw nitong magpahinga.
“President Duterte, therefore, asked that our fellow Filipinos set aside our differences so that we can together, we may shape a more dynamic and prosperous society that will serve as a cradle of future generations for Filipino heroes by making the right choice to do the right thing,” dagdag pa ni Cayetano.
Pinaalalahanan naman din ng lider ng Kamara ang publiko na bawat isa ay mayroong obligasyon na magdesisyon, magsakripisyo, maging disiplinado at magsilbi para sa bansa at sa kapwa Pilipino.
“Today, we should recommit ourselves to the choice to sacrifice, to love our country and to do everything that we may have a safe and comfortable life for all.”
Sa naturang talumpati, binigyan pugay ng dating kalihim ng Department of Foreign Affairs hindi lamang ang mga bayaning Pilipino kundi maging ang mga uniformed personnel na nagsisilbi para sa bansa.
