Nilinaw ng isang epidemiologist at public health expert na bakuna lang ang makapagpapatigil sa pandemic na coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Pahayag ito ni Dr. John Wong ng Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health, na miyembro rin ng IATF sub-Technical Working Group on data analytics expert group, sa gitna ng ulat na may flattening o pagbagal na sa curve o bilis ng pagtaas ng COVID-19 cases sa bansa.
“So this is the second wave, kasi the first wave was in January. After this flattening of the curve and then when we relax the ECQ we will see another surge of cases of third wave to prevent the third wave we have to observe all the mitigation measures like physical distancing, hand hygiene, frequent cleaning so that’s how we delay the third wave.”
Sa kasalukuyan, patuloy na dinidiskubre ng mga eksperto sa ibang bansa ang lunas laban sa virus ng COVID-19.
Ang World Health Organization at United Kingdom ay naglunsad na rin ng kani-kanilang clincial trial sa mga gamot na posibleng mapuksa sa coronavirus.
Kabilang ang Pilipinas sa mga bansa na sumali sa WHO solidarity trial, kung saan 500 COVID-19 patients ang inaasahang magpapasailalim sa experimental treatment.
“Right now we are protecting each other by self-quarantine-ing at home. But once ECQ is relaxed, we are able to go out, we have to remember, we have to protect our self, our family, and protect each other by observing 1 meter distance, washing our hands frequently, observing cough etiquette and doing frequent cleaning, whether in school or at work or even at home especially if we have a family members who are seniors or highly conditions.”
