Malaking tulong ang African Swine Fever vaccine sa krisis na kinakaharap ng livestock industry sa bansa.
Available na sa Pilipinas ang ASF vaccine, matapos makuha ng isang local company na siyang exclusive distributor ng 95% effective vaccine.
Nagsanib pwersa ang local company na KPP Powers Commodities (KPP Powers) at AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company (AVAC) para tugunan ang ang African Smine Fever (ASF) epidemic.
Batay sa kanilang kasunduan, ang KPP Powers ang siyang exclusive distributor ng AVAC’s ASF Live Vaccine na siyang natatanging produkto na may government authorization for export at aprubadong Certificate of Product Registration mula sa Vietnam.
Hindi lang ang Pilipinas ang tanging bansa na lubhang naapektuhan ng ASF kundi maging ang iba pang mga bansa sa buong mundo.
Simula ng magkaroon ng ASF outbreak sa bansa nuong July 2019, nasa 50% hanggang 70% ang pagbaba sa swine population sa bansa na nagresulta sa P100 billion annual losses.
“Countless farms have been forced out of operation, leaving thousands of farmers and affiliated hog industry workers without any source of livelihood. ASF has brought about a crisis of vast proportions. It has become a matter of national food security, and thus requires an urgent and imperative response,” pahayag ni KPP Powers Managing Director Juancho Robles.
Kumpiyansa si Robles na ang AVAC ASF Live Vaccine’s ay matagumpay na ma replicate sa Pilipinas.
“We are very hopeful that the FDA will recognize the gravity of the current emergency situation. We are also heartened by the fact that President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. is concurrently the Secretary of Agriculture, and we firmly believe that he will support our efforts” dagdag pa ni Robles.
Ipinunto din ni Mr. Robles, ” The widespread deployment of the AVAC ASF Live Vaccine can save lives, livelihoods, and entire industries – but of course, other countries also know that. Hopefully, we will be given an authorization to import and distribute the vaccine at the soonest possible time, before other countries deplete AVAC’s supply.”
