Inanunsiyo na ng Galing Pook Foundation, katuwang ang Department of the Interior and Local Government ang 18 programa ng iba’t ibang lokal na pamahalaan bilang finalists para sa 2022 Galing Pook Awards.
Mula sa 196 programa, 30 programa ang umusad sa site validation stage at kinapanayam ng National Selection Committee mula Setyembre hanggang Oktubre.
Ang top 18 ay magtatagisan sa final round ng panel interview at presentation sa ika-21 ng Nobyembre. Ang Board of Judges ay binubuo ng mga lider mula sa sektor ng negosyo, civil society, media, academe at pampublikong sektor at pinamumunuan ni DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos.
“This year’s set of finalists features a wide range of LGU programs that address the needs of Filipinos – agriculture, health, education, disaster risk reduction, peace and development, poverty alleviation, heritage and tourism, and digital governance. With the multiple challenges brought by the pandemic, climate change, and poverty, hopefully these promising programs could serve as models and inspiration for other LGUs nationwide,” ayon kay Georgina Hernandez Yang, Executive Director ng Galing Pook Foundation.

- Cagayan de Oro City: “Making Dreams Come True: Providing Better Access to Quality Education in Cagayan de Oro City”
- Barangay Cayabu, Tanay Rizal: “Building Community Resiliency, Sustainability, and Strengthening Local Government Ability to Prepare for Hazards through Agri-Fishery”
- Davao City: “Mental Wellness Center for the Homeless (MCWH)”
- Goa, Camarines Sur: “Trekking to Unlock Community Ailments and Difficulties (TUCAD)”

Inilunsad ang Galing Pook Awards noong ika-21 ng Oktubre para hanapin ang mga mahusay at makabagong na programa ng mga lokal na pamahalaan. Mula noon, pinarangalan nito ang 329 programa mula sa 200 lokal na pamahalaan sa bansa na ipinatupad sa iba’t ibang lugar sa bansa para sa kapakinangan ng mas maraming komunidad.
Tatlong kahilim ng DILG ang tumanggap ng Galing Pook Awards sa kanilang panahon bilang mayor – sina dating Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo, dating Calbayog City Mayor at ngayo’y Galing Pook Chairperson Mel Sarmiento, at dating Mandaluyong City Mayor at ngayo’y DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos. Ang Seal of Good Local Governance o SGLG ay itinulad sa mga ginagawa ng Galing Pook Awards.
Nakatakda naman ang 2022 Galing Pook Awards Ceremony sa ika-22 ng Nobyembre.
