Nasa 12,000 tests per day na raw ang testing capacity ng Philippine Red Cross matapos sertipikahan ng gobyerno ang isang laboratoryo nito sa Maynila.
Ayon kay PRC chairman Sen. Richard Gordon, pumasa na sa proficiency test ng Research Institute for Tropical Medicine ang kanilang bio-molecular laboratory sa Port Area.
Ito na ang ikatlong laboratoryo ng Philippine Red Cross na na-certify.
“I am glad that our bio-molecular laboratory in Manila has been accredited. Now we can do more tests because the more people we test, the better chances we have of preventing the further spread of the disease,” ani Gordon sa isang statement.
Ang mga laboratoryo ng PRC ay may tig-aapat na polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machines na may kakayahan ng 4,000 tests kada araw.
“The focus must be victory over the virus. That’s why we have to test, test and test — to unmask the invisible enemy.”
“We are now close to resolving the difficulties we expected to encounter during the initial phase of our laboratories’ operations.”
May apat na testing centers pa ang bubuksan ng PRC sa Zambales, Pampanga, Batangas at Laguna.
