After three years of good results, the National Basketball Association decided to make the play-in tournament.

It means there will be a play-in tournament every season.

Along with this development, the league also adopted the fastbreak rule wherein teams are discouraged from committing fouls that break up an opponent’s fastbreak attack, resulting in a one-shot free-throw and a ball possession.

The new rule will be apparent next season, and players will need to adjust to it.

The two developments received a unanimous nod from the NBA’s Competition Committee.
