Mariing kinondena ni Surigao del Norte 2nd District Representative Robert Ace Barbers, ang panibagong pambu-bully ng China laban sa mga tauhan ng Philippine Cost Guard sa loob mismo ng teritoryo ng Pilipinas.
Ayon kay Barbers, hindi na dapat manahimik pa ang Pilipinas sa patuloy na pambibiktima ng China, hindi lang sa mga Pilipinong mangingisda ngunit pati ngayon ay mga government forces.
Kamakailan ginamitan ng China ng military grade laser light ang Philippine Coast Guard, na nagdadala ng supply sa Philippine Navy na nakadestino sa Ayungin Shoal.
“Now that China has finally owned up to its cowardly act of bullying us in our territorial seas, we condemn in the strongest terms these acts of aggression,” pahayag ni Barbers.
Hinimok din ng mambabatas ang mga Pilipino, na ibigay ang suporta kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na nagpahayag na rin ng pagkadismaya sa insidente.
Una ng pinatawag ng Pangulo sa Malacanang si Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huan Xilian upang talakayin ang insidente at ipinaabot ng Pangulo ang kaniyang pagka dismaya.
“We call on our fellow Filipinos to stand united and rally behind our President as he expresses our frustrations and protests diplomatically. We cannot anymore keep quiet and endure in silence. We have suffered long enough. Our fishermen have been directly victimized,” dagdag ng mambabatas.
Nanawagan din si Barbers sa mga kaalyadong bansa ng Pilipinas, na tumulong para igiit at kilalanin ang naipanalong arbitral ruling noong 2106.
“We call on our allies to help us in the implementation of the arbitral ruling that gave us territorial jurisdiction over the seas now being occupied illegally and without an iota of basis neither in history nor in International Law, by China,” pahayag ni Barbers.
