Pinaiimbestigahan na raw ng Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRRMMC) ang pagkamatay ng isa sa kanilang hospital staff dahil sa COVID-19.
Ayon sa Department of Health (DOH), mismong ang medical chief ng ospital na si Dr. Emmanuel Montaña ang nagkumpirma na may binuo ng investigative body para suriin ang pagkamatay ng staff na si Judy Bonn Suerte.
“They will furnish the DOH a full report once concluded. However, the report may only be available next week as the Hospital Personnel Order has just been released.”
Nitong Lunes nang magsagawa ng silent protest ang ilang health care workers ng ospital, kung saan nanawagan sila ng hustisya sa pagkamatay ng kapwa empleyado.
Umapela rin ang Alliance of Health Workers (AHW) chapter ng JRRMMC na gawing mandatory ang testing sa kanilang hanay at dagdagan pa ang personal protective equipments nila.
“We believe that Bonn’s life would have been saved if it had been immediately treated by Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center and not brought to Dr. Jose n. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital where he died,” ani Cristy Donguines, nurse, presidente ng AHW union sa ospital.
Kinalampag din ng ilang medical workers ng Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital ang pamahalaan nitong Martes sa hiwalay na silent protest.
Umapela sila ng kongkretong plano para mas maging angkop ang COVID-19 protocols sa mga ospital. Pati na ang kulang na pasilidad para sa quarantine ng health care workers at iba pang benepisyo.
Paliwanag ng DOH, nagtutulungan na sila ng medical societies para tugunan ang pangangailangan ng sektor sa gitna ng hinaharap na pandemya.
“The DOH and medical societies are working together to produce a recalibrated plan and strategies in responding to COVID-19, including protocols in managing COVID-19 in hospitals.”
“The updated guidelines will be released this week. It is our hope that through our joint efforts–the medical community, health providers, government units in the national and local levels–we will be able to address the concerns of our healthcare workers and frontliners.”
