JOLO, Sulu – Kinumpirma ng Joint Task Force Sulu ang pagkakapatay sa ISIS liaison sa Abu Sayyaf (ASG) na si Talha Jumsah alyas “Abu Talha” sa gitna ng engkwentro sa 1st Scout Ranger Battalion sa So. Tubig Amu, Brgy. Tanum, Patikul, Sulu.
Ang bangkay ni Abu Talha ay narekober 800 metro mula sa encounter site kaninang alas 8:30 ng umaga sa isinagawang follow-up operations ng 1101st Infantry Brigade.
Si Abu Talha ay isang high-value target ng AFP sa Sulu at siya ay ISIS-trained IED expert na nagsilbing instructor sa ASG sa paggawa ng mga mas nakamamatay at mapaminsalang IEDs na ginamit sa suicide bombings sa Sulu.
Nagsilbi rin siyang finance conduit at liaison sa pagitan ng foreign and local terrorist communication lines.
“The death of Abu Talha will surely cause demoralization in the ASG ranks in Sulu. It could not have been made possible without the support of the Tausug community who reported the presence of the armed terrorists and volunteered to serve as guides during the conduct of combat operations” ani BGen Antonio Nafarrete, 1101st Brigade Commander.
