Patuloy na umano ang imbestigasyon ng Department of Justice (DoJ) sa 300 Facebook (FB) “ghost accounts.”
Ayon kay DoJ Usec. at Spokesman Markk Perete, ang mga laman ng mga accounts ay na-preserve na rin matapos i-request ng mga law enforcers.
Naatasan daw na mag-imbestiga ang inter-agency task force kasama ang National Privacy Commission (NPC), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) at DoJ.
Una nang sinabi ni Perete na haharap sa kasong kriminal ang mga sangkot sa computer-related identity theft na paglabag sa Republic Act 10175 o ang Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Noong sumabog ang isyu, nakatanggap agad ang DOJ Office of Cybercrime (DOJ-OOC) ng 112 reports mula sa mga duplicate/dummy accounts.
“Liability, including criminal penalties, is imposed upon those who violate this prohibition. The DOJ Office of Cybercrime is not only aware of this prohibition, it will assiduously uphold the law that protects the privacy of citizens,” ani Duterte.
