Bombo Radyo Philippines, in partnership with the Bombo Radyo Philippines Foundation, Inc. and the Philippine Red Cross, successfully concluded Dugong Bombo 2025, the country’s largest single-day voluntary bloodletting event. The activity was held simultaneously across 25 key areas nationwide, with the participation of the network’s 32 fully digitalized AM and FM stations.

Despite the challenges brought by recent destructive typhoons and a powerful earthquake that struck several regions, this year’s Dugong Bombo surpassed last year’s record, reaffirming the strength, compassion, and spirit of volunteerism among the Filipino people.

A total of 4,657 bags of blood were collected, equivalent to 2,095,650 cc, 2,095.65 liters, or 553.61 gallons, roughly 10 drums of lifesaving blood.

Held amid the nation’s ongoing recovery from natural calamities, this year’s event carried deeper meaning. Filipinos from all walks of life, students, workers, uniformed personnel, professionals, and community groups, braved difficult conditions to donate blood and extend help to those in need. Their courage and compassion reflect the enduring bayanihan spirit that continues to define the Filipino character.

For nearly two decades, Dugong Bombo has served as a vital lifeline for communities across the Philippines, consistently providing thousands of blood units each year to support patients in emergencies, childbirth, surgeries, cancer treatments, and other critical medical needs.

With the theme “A Little Pain, A Life to Gain,” the initiative highlights that while blood donation requires only a few minutes and minor discomfort, it can give another Filipino a precious second chance at life. Despite medical advances, there remains no substitute for human blood, making volunteer donors indispensable partners in saving lives.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) expressed full support for Dugong Bombo 2025, encouraging the faithful to participate. The CBCP described blood donation as an act of faith, charity, and love of neighbor, an authentic expression of the Christian mission to preserve and uphold the dignity of life.

As Dugong Bombo 2025 concludes, Bombo Radyo Philippines, together with its partners, reaffirms its commitment to humanitarian service, community empowerment, and nation-building. The annual initiative remains a testament to the network’s mission of saving Filipino lives, one precious donation at a time.

Bombo Radyo Philippines extends its gratitude to:
