Dumepensa si Finance Sec. Carlos Dominguez III matapos madawit ang pangalan sa usapin ng term-sharing ng mga tumatakbo sa pwesto bilang susunod na House Speaker.
Nilinaw ni Dominguez na hindi nakikialam ang kagawaran sa mga diskusyon ng Kamara bilang legislative branch ng gobyerno.
Sa isang pahayag sinabi ni Buhay Party-list Rep. Lito Atienza na kinumbinse ng Finance chief si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte para suportahan ang bid ni Taguig Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano.
Bukod dito, si Dominguez din umano ang naghain sa chief executive ng panukalang term sharing.
Nauna na ring nagpasaring ang tinatawag na Duterte Coalition sa pangunguna ni Davao Rep. Paolo Duterte, kung saan binalaan nito ang mga gabineteng nakikialam umano sa karera ng pagkas-speaker.
“It has come to our attention that certain Presidential Cabinet members have their bet for Speaker. Everyone should note that, Cabinet members serve only on the basis of the trust and confidence of the President and should not participate in the selection of the Speaker,” ayon sa statement ng Duterte Coalition.
Pero ayon sa kalihim, hindi nito kailanman naisingit ang usapin ng term sharing ng mga kongresista sa pangulo.
“Out of respect for the President, I have never egged or urged the President on any matter since the start of this Administration,” ani Dominguez.
