Magsisimula nang maningil ang Bureau of Customs (BOC) ng provisional safeguard duty na P3 sa kada kilo ng imported na ceramic floor at wall tiles.
Sinabi ng BOC na kanilang inilabas ang Customs Memorandum Order (CMO_ 28-2019 matapos na magpatupad naman ang Department of Trade and Industry ng safeguard duty sa mga ceramic floor at wall tiles mula abroad.
“The said duty shall come in the form of cash bonds and shall be imposed in the amount of P3 per kg of imported ceramic tiles,” sambit ng BOC sa isang statement.
Ayon sa BOC, ipapatupad ang provisional safeguard duty sa loob ng 200 days lamang at dapat na ipatupad sa specific tariff headings na nakasaad sa CMO 28-2019.
Noong nakaraang buwan, sinabi ng Philippine Ceramic Products Importers Association Inc. na ang murang tiles na ginagamit sa mga low-cost housing ay posibleng tumaas ang presyo ng hanggang P33 kada piraso sa oras na maipatupad ang safeguard duty sa mga ceramic floor at wall tiles.
Binigyan diin ni Napoleon Co ng Philippine Ceramic Products Importers Association Inc. na ang P3 per kg safeguard duty sa mga ceramic floor at wall tiles ay magiging pahirap sa mga developers sa bansa.
