MANILA – Kinumpirma ng Department of Health (DOH) na isang Pinay domestic helper ang 30-anyos na babaeng nag-positibo sa bagong variant ng COVID-19 pagdating sa Hong Kong mula Maynila.
“Yes the HK case is a Filipina Domestic Helper,” ani Health Usec. Maria Rosario Vergeire sa isang Viber message sa media.
Nitong Miyerkules ng gabi nang sabihin ng Health department na galing sa Cagayan Valley region ang babae bago sumakay ng Philippine Airlines flight PAR-300 noong December 22 sa Maynila papuntang Hong Kong.
Sumailalim daw muna ito sa quarantine pagdating ng Metro Manila, at nagpakita ng “negative” RT-PCR test result bago bumiyahe pa-ibang bansa.
Pinakilos na ng DOH ang kanilang regional epidemiology and surveillance units sa Cagayan Valley at National Capital Region para sa contact tracing.
“They have been instructed to ensure strict quarantine of identified close contacts and for samples collected from said contacts to be sent for confirmatory testing and, if samples test positive, subsequent whole genome sequencing.”
“The flight manifest has been obtained and the tracing of passengers is being conducted while we await updates on the contact tracing efforts done in Hong Kong.”
Noong Martes, January 5, nang unang i-ulat ng Hong Kong Center for Health Protection – Communicable Disease Branch ang kaso ng UK variant sa isang babaeng biyahero na galing Maynila.
“(Case) 9003 took PR 300 and arrived in Hong Kong on the 22nd of December from (the) Philippines,” ani Dr. Chuang Shuk-kwan.
