Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar announced that the PICC COVID-19 Facility is already complete and is ready for turnover to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Medical Corps.
“The DPWH with the support of private firms EEI Corporation and the Villar Group of Companies have completed the construction works of the health facility at Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Forum Halls in just 7 days. This is ahead of the 10-day deadline imposed by President Duterte.”The facility has 294 patient cubicles, 6 nurse stations, and 6 smart houses outside the Forum building. The facility will have a mobile pharmacy and a mobile X-ray machine,” Villar said.
“We would the Philippine National Police for in taking on the responsibility of manning the newly converted PICC Facility,” Villar added.
On the other, the Philippine National Police vows to provide 24/7 healthcare to patients using the facility.
“The PNP, with our corps of medical and healthcare personnel, is honoured to take this crucial responsibility in our national efforts to stand our ground against COVID-19 and heal the land of this contagion. This health facility at PICC promises to provide supportive care to anyone who will be admitted under close supervision of the PNP Health Service and DOH,” PNP Chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said.
The fully air-conditioned health facility at PICC complex will soon cater to patients with mild to moderate cases of corona virus disease (COVID-19).
“Hospital Beds and Hospital equipments, such as IV Stands, wheelchairs, defibrillators, are now installed in the PICC Facility.
Since April 1, six COVID-19 We Heal As One Centers have been built in Manila and Clark– with a total 1500- bed capacity.
