Inaprubahan na ng Cabinet Infrastructure Cluster ang proposal ng Department of Science and Technology (DOST) na magtayo ang bansa ng Virology Institute.
Batay sa report ni Science Sec. Fortunato dela Peña, nitong Miyerkules inaprubahan ng naturang cluster ang P500-milyong halaga na proyekto, na ngayon ay kasali na sa National Infrastructure Program ng pamahalaan.
Target itayo ang mga pasilidad ng Virology Science and Technology Institute of the Philippines (VIP) sa New Clark Economic Zone, Capas, Tarlac.
“The said Cabinet Cluster considered the importance and urgency of pursuing priority virology researches and developing diagnostic kits, therapeutics, and vaccines for diseases caused by viruses,” ani Dela Peña sa kanyang report.
Naniniwala ang DOST na malaking tulong para sa pananaliksik ng mga uri ng viruses ang itatayong VIP.
Magsisilbing gabay din daw ito para sa agarang development ng bansa para tugunan ang mga puputok pang viral diseases.
Sa ilalim ng Executive Order No. 86 na nilagdaan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte noong 2019, binubuo ng 13 departamento ang Cabinet Infrastructure Cluster.
Ang kalihim ng Department of Public Works and Highways ang nakaupong chairman. Kasama rin sa cluster ang Executive Secretary, Cabinet Secretary, head ng Presidential Management Staff at presidente ng Bases Conversion and Development Authority.
