Aminado si Energy Sec. Alfonso Cusi na mailap ang National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) sa panukalang security audit sa sistema nito.
Ito’y kasunod ng ulat na posibleng i-shutdown ng China ang power grid ng bansa dahil malaki umano ang shares nito sa korporasyon.
Sa isang panayam sinabi ni Cusi na patuloy na hinaharang ng NGCP ang National Transmission Corporation (Transco) sa pagi-inspect sa Kanilang control centers, gayundin sa paggamit ng ilang imprastuktura na sakop nitong kontrolin.
Hindi rin daw sila sinasagot ng mga opisyal ng NGCP kaugnay ng issue.
Una ng sinabi ni Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang na walang basehan ang ulat na may potensyal silang patayin ang buong sistema ng enerhiya sa bansa.
“The project is now operated, managed and maintained by the Philippine side, with the Chinese partner offering necessary technical support upon request. The allegation of China’s control over the Philippines’ power grid or threat to the country’s national security is completely groundless,” ayon kay Shuang.
Sinabi na rin ng NGCP na nagsisilbing technical adviser lang nila ang korporasyon mula Beijing.
Tatlong kompanya ang humahawak sa NGCP: ang Pinoy corporations na Monte Oro Grid Resources Corporation at Calaca High Power Corporation na may tig-30 percent stake.
Samantalang 40-percent stake naman ang hawak ng State Grid Corporation of China.
Pare-pareho silang may hawak ng concession contract na tatagal ng 25-taon at franchise to operate na pang-hanggang 50 taon.
Ilang opisyal na ng gobyerno ang nanawagan na imbestigahan ang ulat.
Nangako naman ang DOE ng pakikipagtulungan sa mga mambabatas kaugnay ng imbestigasyon.
“Given that there are aspects in the existing franchise agreement with the NGCP that seem inimical to the best interests of the national government, and more importantly, the Filipino people, both the DOE and TransCo continue to call for, and are fully supportive of the Senate’s interest to take a closer look at the administrative, operational, and procedural structures existing within the NGCP,” ayon sa Energy department.
