Hawak ngayon ng mga otoridad ang pitong Pinay na naharang sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) matapos umanong mabiktima ng human trafficking.
Sa report na ipinarating ng travel control and enforcement unit (TCEU) ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) kay Commissioner Jaime Morente, ang mga Pinay ay papunta raw sa United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Napigilan ang pag-alis ng mga ito sa immigration departure area ng NAIA Terminal 1 bago pa man sila sumakay ng Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight patungong Dubai.
Lumalabas na tatlo sa mga babae ay na-hire bilang caregivers sa emirate habang ang apat naman at na-recruit na magtatrabaho bilang marketing at sales agents sa isang interior design company.
“We were told that these intercepted victims all said that they met their handlers and recruiters via social media and that their travel papers were only handed to them a few days before their scheduled flights. They did not know that these fraudulent papers could result in interception by our officers,” ani Morente.
Ayon kay BI-TCEU Chief Ma. Timotea Bariz, ang mga kababaihan ay tinangkang makalabas ng bansa at sinabing first-time overseas Filipino workers pero nang iprisinta ng mga ito ang kanilang mga dokumento ay lumabas na peke pala ang mga ito.
Sa isinagawang verification ng BI sa Philippine Oversease Employment Administration (POEA), ilan umano sa mga kababaihan ay wala sa record ng POEA habang ang iba naman ay lumalabas na na-issue sa ibang tao.
“Verification made on the overseas employment certificates (OECs) they presented revealed that some of them are not in the records of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administrtion (POEA), while the others appear to have been issued to other persons,” Barizo.
Dagdag ni Barizo, ang UAE visas na mga Pinay patungong Dubai ay na-issue bilang turista lamang at hindi bilang mga workers.
Ang mga kababaihang hindi na pinangalanan ay agad namang itinurn-over sa Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) para sa imbestigasyon.
Sinabi naman ng BI chief na balik operasyon na naman ang mga human traffickers sa dahil sa pagluluwag ng quarantine protocols sa gitna ng Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
“These traffickers are taking advantage of our kababayan who need jobs during the pandemic,” dagdag ni Morente.
