The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported that three Filipino fishermen died after a Philippine fishing boat was rammed by an as-yet-unidentified foreign commercial vessel traveling the waters off Bajo de Masinloc.

A crew member of the FFB DEARYN told the PCG that the event took place on October 2, 2023, at around 4:20 AM, while their mother boat was anchored to Payao for fishing 85 nautical miles northwest of BDM.

Three of the mother boat’s crew members, including the boat captain, died when the vessel sank.

Eight of the crew’s service boats were used by the 11 survivors to evacuate the local waterways and bring the dead victims to Barangay Cato in Infanta, Pangasinan.

They arrived around 10AM yesterday, 03 October 2023, and reported the incident to the nearest Coast Guard sub-station for necessary assistance.
